SDARL CEO Don Norton moderated two legislative forums sponsored by the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee. The virtual events were held Saturdays February 13 and 20, and included a discussion of bills and issues confronting 96th legislative session in Pierre.
“These legislative forums are vital for Chamber members and Brookings residents to learn from and communicate with our state legislators on important issues,” Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kelsey Doom said.
Residents emailed questions prior to the sessions, and posed inquiries during the live one-hour program. The February 20 session featured legislators from District 4, including State Senator John Wiik, and Representatives John Mills and Fred Deutsch, as well as District 7 legislators Senator V.J. Smith, and Representatives Tim Reed and Larry Tidemann.
