If you’re looking for a Certified Range Management Consultant, we have a newly certified one right here in the SDARL midst. Lealand Schoon (Class VI) recently became certified through the International Society for Range Management (SRM). He is skilled in grazing management principals and practices relating to grazing systems, soil/plant relationships, vegetative response to grazing, climate smart conservation, and rangeland soil health. Lealand is a 30 year career employee of the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He also owns and operates a ranch in Mellette.
Another alum is shining at The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association as the new Director of Communications & Outreach. Lorrin Naasz, SDARL (Class X) recently started her position with the organization. Naasz works on behalf of South Dakota cattle producers to advance grassroots policy as a unified voice at the state, local, and national level. She will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies, as well as facilitating and growing industry relations.
