Brooke Higgins

Brooke is from Leola, SD, and was raised on a dairy and beef cattle operation. She and her husband operate a cow/calf business alongside Brooke's family cow/calf and farming operation. They also offer direct to consumer beef products and retain ownership in their calves. Brooke graduated from South Dakota State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Nursing and worked as a full time Registered Nurse for twelve years before making a career change. She currently works as Natural Resource Specialist for USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Service out of the Leola Field Office. Brooke has a passion for local and value-added agriculture, spearheading the Beef-to-School program for the Leola School District and is a recent graduate of beefSD Class 6. She is active in her community and volunteers as a local 4-H club leader and Sunday school teacher. In her free time Brooke enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, riding horse, gardening, camping and chasing her kids to their activities.
